Change

Tiffany is giving me grief for not posting lately so I thought I would make her happy and share some things that are on my mind. I know change is supposed to be a good thing but some people in my school district seem to take it a little far. Since kindergarten switched to Easy Grade Pro about 5 years ago, we have had a new report card every year!! Not only does that mean I have to learn a new way to do the program, it means creating new assessments. Then this school year they redid all of the curriculum standards for English/Language Arts. It gave us a ton more standards which meant new assessments for pretty much all of the assessments. They also changed all of the numbers that represent the standards. So I just spent about an hour and a half going through the assessments I have made in years past and changing the numbers to match the current number. I'm hoping that this wasn't done in vain because it wouldn't surprise me in the least if the standards or numbers change again for this upcoming school year. I'm also waiting to see the new report card to see what fun things they have added or taken away this year. Got to love the school district!!

Anyways, enough complaining. Overall things have been pretty good here. Rodney's last day with students is this coming Thursday and then he has a staff development day on Friday (thanks to the "snow day" in December) and then he checks out on Monday. I only have 29 days left with kids so I get done on July 10 and my day to check out is on Monday the 13 (I don't have to make up the snow day because I was on track break). So I am starting that frenzied end of the year rush to make sure they know everything, I get them all tested so I can fill out that great report card, and that they learn the songs, poems and dances for the parent end of the year program plus prepare for the water field day. It seems like a lot, but I actually feel pretty good about where the kids are academically and the progress they are making on the program.

Back in April (I know a long time ago) Rodney, my mom, and me went up to Utah to visit Tiff, Greg and Evan. It was fun and we got to see Dustyn and Kamie. Of course we went to Fat Jacks (Roy's) and I got my Fat Sticks. During the week we went to the "farm" to put some things in the storage unit. Rodney and I took some pictures there so we could finish our online adoption profile. Well Evan wanted in on the fun so here is an action shot of him "driving" the tractor. Has he adjusted to small town life or what??
For mother's day we made dinner (lasagna) for Rodney's mom and his brother's family came over dessert. It turned out pretty good for our first attempt (thanks Troy for the recipe). My mom was in Utah helping watch Evan while Tiff and Greg finished school. Overall it was a pretty good day. I boycotted going to church (bad, I know) so I could avoid the traditional "Mother's day" gift from the ward. Past events have made this usually hard day even more unbearable (if you don't know what I'm talking about check out my post Broken Hearts). I know it will happen for us when it's supposed to, but going to church and hearing the stories and seeing all the mothers with their babies and kids on that day would have been more than I could take. So Rodney stayed home with me and we just hung out.
For Memorial day we went to his parent's new cabin up above Cedar with his parents and brother's family. It rained all day Saturday (lots of mud) but it was nice on Sunday. Monday got cloudy again. We rode the 4-wheelers and I did some reading. It was a nice, relaxing weekend.
Well that's about it for us. Hope everyone is doing good!!
