Christmas 2011

Caleb was a lot more aware of Christmas this year.  He knew that something special was going to happen when he saw all of the decorations come out. He loved the Christmas tree and I'm happy to say we only had 1 broken ornament.  I have this book that has a scripture, story and song in it for every day in December.  So every night before bed we read that days story and sang the song.  Our ward did a Christmas breakfast this year and Santa came to visit.  While we waited Caleb was so excited.  He kept saying Santa and when we were at the door he kept pointing at him.  The minute Caleb got close to him he started crying.  He wouldn't sit on his lap and Daddy had to be in the picture with him and he was still crying.  Then when we got home he kept saying Santa over and over again.  I'm glad we didn't go and wait is some long line for this to happen.  Hopefully next year Caleb will enjoy seeing Santa and will actually sit on his lap so we can have a good picture.

We spent Christmas Eve at Grandma and Grandpa B's.  We opened presents before the extended family got there.  Caleb got a Dr. Seuss story book, some PJ's and a Shrek Christmas movie from Steve and Tracy.  He got a rocking chair, some clothes, a puzzle, a Frosty the Snowman talking story book, and a Cowboys blanket from Grandma and Grandpa.  We had the traditional Mexican for dinner and the kids took turns breaking the pinata.  Caleb got his turn first, but he had more fun just swinging the stick around and didn't really try to hit the pinata at all.  Then he wanted to be right next to the action when the other kids had their turn to hit.  Needless to say we had some tears when we had to hold him.  When we got home Caleb opened his one present (pajamas, of course) and then we got ready for bed.
The next morning we got up and got the house ready.  After the lights got turned on Caleb came down, we looked in our stockings and looked at what Santa brought.  Santa brought Caleb a Tonka Dump Truck and Digger, a Cars backpack, a football, a Jake and the Neverland Pirates music CD, some books, and a puzzle.  After he had played with his Santa toys for a little, we opened our family presents.  From us Caleb got a Little People carnival play set, Leap Frog Magnetic letters set, a Leap Frog phone that teaches letter and sounds, some books and some clothes.  Then we got ready and went to church with Grandma and Grandpa T, Troy's family and Cory's family.  It must have been an exciting morning because Caleb fell asleep.  When the meeting was over we went back to Grandma's house for Christmas brunch (coffee cake, pull apart cake, scrambled eggs, fried ham, and homemade cocoa).  Then we looked in our stockings and opened presents.  Caleb got
some videos and books from Cory's family, a vacuum from Troy's family (including a hand made stool from Dax), a broom and shape sorter from Tiff's family, some clothes, a fire truck, a football and some books from Grandma and Grandpa T.  After all the presents were opened we played with the new toys and visited with each other.
Tiffany, Greg and Evan came down on Monday and we celebrated Christmas with them and also celebrated the winter birthdays. It was a great holiday and I loved having all the time to spend with family.
